Job Title: Nursery Manager – Office Based
Location: Woking, Surrey, GU21
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum
An experienced, proven Nursery Manager required for this large established setting in Epsom Surrey, from 3 months to 5 years. Preferably coming from a setting that has achieved an Outstanding Ofsted rating or has the experience and drive to bring innovative ideas and be instrumental in taking us from Good (our current Ofsted) to Outstanding. A Manager who likes a challenge. We are looking for a professional Nursery Manager whose strengths lay in motivating and supporting staff and being a Team player. This position is 100% office based, the successful applicant will want to be out on the floor meeting and greeting parents and being a ‘front person’ for the setting.
We are looking for a hands on, enthusiastic individual, who is experienced enough to run this large Day Nursery and team.
Nursery Manager Qualifications/Experience Required:
•The Nursery Manager will have a minimum of a Level 3 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification or equivalent with relevant experience of working in the sector.
•They will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of OFSTED Standards, the Early Years Foundation Stage.
•Must have previous managerial experience.
As the Nursery Manger you will be responsible for:
•Ensuring a high standard of physical, personal, emotional and intellectual education and care for all the children in the nursery.
•Supervision of, and support of the team members within the nursery thereby implementing high standards of quality practices.
•Ensuring the staff team are working to their full potential and implement support programs and training according to individual needs to achieve this.
•Overseeing staff, conduct necessary reviews/reports/observations of both children and staff.
•The day to day management of the nursery.
Nursery Manager duties:
•To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery
•To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors.
•To ensure the provision of high standards of physical, personal and emotional care.
•To lead a team of professional workers and ensure good practice at all times.
•Co-ordinating and chairing staff meetings as appropriate including agendas and minutes. This includes planning and organising regular team meetings to promote good team working and ensure sharing of information and knowledge. To also plan other events such as parents and/or information evenings and open days
•To plan ahead and undertake quarterly staffing appraisals with all staff for whom you are responsible for within the nursery ensuring SMART objectives are set in line with the overall nursery objectives and the staffs’ individual goals. performance managed appropriately if necessary
•To plan and organise staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted guidelines and nursery procedures.
•To be aware and act in accordance with current legislation, good practice, nursery policies and procedures.
•To adhere to, and support all team members to understand and follow, the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
•To follow all relevant acts including the Equality Act 2010 and the Data Protection Act 1998 that relate to staff employment and record keeping.
•Liaising with Ofsted and other professional bodies associated with the nursery.
•Overseeing the efficient upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds, stock and equipment, furnishings and fittings.
•Being responsible for all administrative duties associated with the management of the facility, for example; maintaining records on the children and their families, maintaining an inventory and keeping personnel records. Please note this includes ensuring a clear desk policy is maintained at all times at close of business.
•To instigate the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record child development.
•To be responsible for the overall health & safety standards within the nursery and ensuring staff compliance and awareness, including training where appropriate.
•To oversee that the agreed high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
•To ensure the provision of high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history.
•To provide all team members with the support and resources required for the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs.
