We provide an ongoing support service for our families following placements and are always here to answer any queries you might have. Childcare Services we are able to provide for you
A daily full-time or part-time Nanny will hold a sole charge position, and work between 8-10 hours per day. A daily Nanny will earn between £75-90 net per day (depending on the hours required) part-time and between £350-£450 net per week full-time working Monday to Friday. Depending on age and experience of Nanny.
Responsibilities/Duties of a Nanny
- To provide a safe, secure and loving environment for your child.
- To stimulate your child’s all round development i.e. physical, intellectual, emotional and social.
- To provide play activities according to your child’s age and abilities, this includes outings.
- To undertake the responsibility for the care of your children’s rooms, laundry and toys.
- To provide your child with a well-balanced diet.
- To ensure that parents’ guidelines and disciplinary rules are followed.
A live-in Nanny would normally be expected to work five days per week, Monday-Friday. Hours per day will vary between 10 and 12 with approximately 1 evening’s babysitting per week. A live-in Nanny will earn between £300 – £400 net per week, depending upon age and experience.
There are two types of nanny share. One is a Nanny who works for two families. The families share the cost of employing the Nanny, and agree on the terms of her contract together. The second is an experienced or qualified Nanny who has had a child of her own, but would like to continue nannying, so will take her own child to her employer’s house. The rates of pay vary between £8.00 – £9.00 per hour, depending upon the hours and days worked.
A Mother’s Help is not necessarily a qualified person, therefore it is a partially sole charge position, and duties regarding the children will vary according to their experience. These helpers assist with the day to day running of the family household. They can be daily or live-in and work the same hours as Nannies. A Mother’s Help will earn between £300 – £350 net per week.
This is a qualified Maternity Nurse who normally lives in. They can be booked for 1-16 weeks, offering 24-hour availability, 6 days per week. A Maternity Nurse specialises in the care of a new baby, twins or triplets and will be familiar with infant feeding, care and hygiene, together with establishing a routine for mother and baby. Maternity Nurses are self-employed and liable for their own tax and National Insurance contributions. Maternity Nurses will earn gross pay per 24 hours approx. (Single baby: £125 – £160, Twins: £150 – £200, Triplets: Quote provided upon request).
A Maternity Nanny works for 5/6 days a week and can be either daily or live-in. The role varies with each family but duties involve helping mum with recuperating, caring for the newborn, especially establishing a routine, sterilising bottles, bathing baby, baby’s laundry, nursery hygiene and night feeds, offering mum support and advice. Maternity Nannies will earn £450+ per week depending on age and experience.
A good night’s sleep is invaluable, especially after giving birth. A Night Nanny’s role involves preparing for the baby during the evening and trying to get him/her in to a good sleep pattern. Night Nannies generally start their evenings at 9/10pm and finish at 6/7 am the following day. Amount of nights worked flexible to suit family. £15 – £20 per hour.
This carer would combine household management and childcare. Managing the household completely including shopping, cooking, light housework, supervision of household staff etc. This can be a live-in or daily employee. Nanny-Housekeeper’s salary would depend on hours and experience. £350 – £450 net per week.
Temporary or Emergency Nannies
A temporary/emergency Nanny will take over the duties from the parent or previous Nanny. This could be short notice, long or short term. Temporary/emergency Nannies will earn between £80 – £90 net per day.
Qualified/experienced Nannies that are able to help parents abroad on a temporary basis. Salary negotiable depending on duration, please call the office to discuss further.
Before & After-School Nannies
Welfare of the children from leaving school, until the parent returns home. Hours as required. An after-school carer will earn between £8.00 – £10.00 net per hour, and are generally mothers themselves. Smiley’s specialises in before- and/or after-school nannies, who are also able to work full time in the school holidays. These nannies are very well known to us, through previous employment history and they will normally like to bring their own child to work with them.
We have a large register of qualified Nannies, Nursery Nurses, teachers and experienced mothers who can come to your home in the evening (this is not a day service) to look after your children while you are out. Our babysitters are all fully screened and vetted and importantly asked to complete an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. All Smiley’s babysitters carry identification cards confirming their personal details and photograph. Please feel free to ask to see these ID cards on arrival. When you book one of our babysitters, we will provide someone who lives as close to you as possible and will have their own transport, no travel expenses required. Clients wishing to join our Annual Membership will be able to meet their sitter prior to any dates booked and continue with the same sitter throughout their membership. Alternatively we provide a service for one-off bookings, so you can pay as you go! Please enquire regarding all rates.
